Downtown Portland, once ‘J’ Town (Japantown) and now Chinatown, transformed into 1930’s Little Tokyo, Los Angeles. The sign painters, including two elderly Japanese calligraphers, had replaced over one hundred different signs. 300 period vehicles were used in these scenes.
